Shirley came to the northwest part of Colorado in 1948 where she made her home in Rangely, Colorado. Here she was able to gain intimate knowledge of Colorado’s wildlife and their surroundings.
In 1980, via a good friend and neighbor, she was again introduced to a wonderful new way of life, the life of and artist. Now she was able to capture, in oils, the beautiful animals that she had come to know and love. In the past 21 years, Shirley has garnered numerous awards for her wildlife paintings. She enjoys working on canvas but is especially happy when creating wildlife scenes on sawblades, old frying pans, or wooden plaques. She meticulously prepares each surface so that her scenes can be enjoyed for many years to come.
Some formal art education has help, but experience has improved this artists to a point of excellence.
